Who Should Attend:
Any law enforcement officer wishing to build or increase community partnerships.

Course Description and Objectives:
The purpose of the lesson is to familiarize students with the history of community policing, to identify the advantages of utilizing a community policing program, discuss traditional and nontraditional methods of community policing, and determine which programs would work best for their agency and community.

1. Describe, in writing, the historical significance of community policing.
2. From the information provided in the lesson plan, identify at least two (2) advantages of utilizing a community policing program.
3. Accurately describe the implementation process of a community policing program.
4. Explain at least one (1) nontraditional method of community policing.
5. Review existing community policing programs and determine which, if any, may work for their agency.
