Full Description
This 8-hour instructor certification course is designed to prepare law enforcement officers, security professionals, and organizational leaders to deliver effective civilian active threat response training within their organizations and communities.

The course integrates:
• Situational awareness and mental preparedness
• Human performance under stress
• Civilian response strategies
• Instructional methodology and delivery

Participants will examine real-world active threat incidents, identify gaps in traditional training approaches, and learn how to present clear, practical, and legally sound guidance to civilian audiences. Emphasis is placed on delivering training that is realistic, prevention-focused, and appropriate for non-law enforcement environments.

In addition to response principles, the course introduces basic bleeding control concepts and highlights the importance of immediate trauma care during violent incidents.

The program also focuses on instructor development, providing participants with the structure, confidence, and skills needed to effectively deliver training, manage groups, and conduct scenario-based exercises safely and professionally.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
• Define situational awareness and explain its role in threat recognition and prevention
• Explain the psychological and physiological effects of stress during violent encounters
• Identify common limitations and gaps in traditional active threat training models
• Analyze active threat incidents and apply lessons learned to training and response
• Apply a civilian response framework (Evade, Escape, or Defend) based on environmental and situational factors
• Describe current federal guidance and best practices for civilian active threat response
• Demonstrate safe and effective scenario-based training techniques
• Apply principles of adult learning and instructional delivery
• Deliver a structured portion of training and receive instructor feedback
